Denice Kondik was born in Creston, Ohio in 1970. She received a B.A. in Threatre from the College of Wooster and studied Philosophy of Art and Modern Dance at the University of Akron. In 1992 she traveled to New York City to study with the Erick Hawkins Dance Company and moved to the city four years later.
In her early solo dance-theatre pieces, she experimented with over-sized props and exaggerated costumes. Her performance art work included collaborations with internationally recognized artists Rokhshad Nourdeh, Kazra Paydavousi, and Angelo Musco; contributing to the "human" element she focused on providing dance, movement and gesture to highlight emotional themes in their work.
In 2005 she returned to acting and was invited to join the New Stage Theatre, a collection of international theatre artists experimenting with original performance art and multi-media productions. In 2007 she was nominated for Outstanding Featured Actress by the New York Innovative Theatre Awards for her performance in "Some Historic/Some Hysteric". She will be performing in the New Stage production of "Oh, Those Beautiful Weimar Girls" which re-opens in March for an extended run at Galapagos, in Brooklyn.
